Livinia Nixon Embraces a Bright New Chapter

Longtime Nine weather presenter Livinia Nixon, who first appeared on-air in Hey Hey, It’s Saturday, is set to conclude her 20-year run delivering the nightly weather reports this month. She will continue working on popular travel programs Postcards and Getaway.

“I’ve been on air for more of my life than I’ve not,” she said with a laugh. “I’m looking forward to a breather.”

The 50-year-old presenter decided to end her weeknight segments to spend more time with her family. Her youngest son, Ted, will soon begin high school, joining his older brother Henry. Nixon admitted the decision was not easy, as she has cherished being welcomed into viewers’ homes each evening.

“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,” she explained. “When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum’.”

Unforgettable Moments on Air

Among Nixon’s standout moments was a memorable live cross from Healesville Sanctuary, where she found herself delivering the forecast with a green tree python draped around her neck. The snake began to tighten and even tried to crawl inside her jacket.

“I’d never read the weather as quickly in my life,” she recalled.
