Sussan Ley has chosen not to engage with criticism regarding her leadership, asserting that the Liberal Party remains united despite claims from within that she is losing backing among members.
The Coalition leader addressed reporters in Canberra following remarks from a backbencher who suggested Ley was struggling to retain the confidence of the party.
“I am just going to say at the moment that I cannot support the way things are,”
said Liberal senator Sarah Henderson during a Sky News interview when asked if she supported Ley’s leadership.
In response, Ley declined to discuss internal speculation, emphasizing the importance of party unity.
“I value every single member of my team, including Senator Henderson,”
she added, urging reporters to seek answers directly from colleagues expressing dissent.
The Liberal Party is preparing to resolve disputes over emissions targets and energy policy in the coming week — an issue that has fueled internal divisions and tested Ley’s leadership in recent months.
“The Liberal Party is united through its values,”
Ley reaffirmed, attempting to project stability amid the ongoing debate.
Amid internal tensions over energy policy and leadership doubts, Sussan Ley insists the Liberal Party remains united through shared values and mutual respect within its ranks.
