After two decades as the weather presenter for 9News Melbourne, Livinia Nixon announced she will be stepping down, while continuing her work with Nine’s travel programs Getaway and Postcards.
Livinia Nixon joined the Nine Network in 1997 and began presenting the Melbourne weather in 2004. Her final weather bulletin will air on Tuesday, 18 November.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them,” Nixon said.
“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”
She shared that supporting her children during their senior school years motivated her decision.
Although stepping back from nightly weather presenting, Livinia will continue contributing to Nine’s travel shows.
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,” she said.
“When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’
She expressed enthusiasm about remaining with Nine and continuing as part of Getaway and Postcards.
