Kazakhstan to Join Abraham Accords

The Government of Kazakhstan announced its intention to join the Abraham Accords on Thursday, ahead of a planned meeting between President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington.

President Trump described Kazakhstan’s decision as “a major step forward in building bridges across the world.” He also stated that a formal signing ceremony would be held soon to make the accession official.

By joining, Kazakhstan will become part of the Abraham Accords alongside the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco, Sudan, Israel, and the United States. This marks Kazakhstan as the first Central Asian country—and the only non-Middle Eastern or North African member besides the United States—in the initiative.

This expansion extends the reach of the Accords into Central Asia, emphasizing their growing significance beyond their original regional and political scope. Kazakhstan’s participation sends a strong message from a Muslim-majority nation supporting peaceful normalization with Israel.
