A press conference in the Oval Office was interrupted Thursday when a drug executive suddenly fainted during President Donald Trump's announcement of a deal with drugmakers to lower obesity drug prices.
The executive, later identified as Gordon Findlay, global brand director for Novo Nordisk, collapsed while Eli Lilly's CEO, David Ricks, was speaking. Ricks noticed and asked,
“Are you okay? Gordon, are you okay?”
Dr. Mehmet Oz quickly intervened as Findlay fell to his knees. Health and Human Services Secretary was also present during the incident. The press was asked to leave while Findlay received assistance.
About 30 minutes later, the event continued. President Trump provided an update on Findlay's condition during the resumed press conference, maintaining focus on the new agreement with Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk. The deal aims to expand coverage and reduce prices for popular obesity treatments Zepbound and Wegovy.
