The NHS has launched an urgent plea for people in England to get their flu jab now, as the flu season is approaching rapidly. With only a few weeks until the worst of winter, officials emphasize the importance of early vaccination to stay protected.
Eligible adults are being urged to come forward promptly to ensure full protection before the usual flu peak in winter. This year, flu cases have surged more than a month earlier than usual, with infection rates three times higher than the same period last year.
“The flu vaccination is the best possible way to protect yourself and your loved ones against flu as we move into the winter months. It’s a quick and easy painless injection and it really will help you keep yourself and your family well through winter.”
Allison Cannon, Chief Nursing Officer for NHS Sussex, encouraged local residents to take up the flu shot following her own vaccination.
