Plane Crash Kills One in Milton

One person died, and another was seriously injured after a plane crashed into a driveway in Milton.

Details of the Crash

The pilot, Frederick Barber, 58, from Port Charlotte, Florida, was killed. The passenger, Alexander Hoff, 39, from Hollis, New Hampshire, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Albany Medical Center.

The accident occurred at 10:24 a.m. on Wyndham Way, a residential street in Milton.

Official Statement

"The plane is believed to have hit a tree and dropped into the driveway of a residence," said Saratoga County Sheriff Mike Zurlo during a press conference the day of the crash.
"While the crash was initially dispatched as a structure fire with entrapment, responders determined the fire was limited to outside the residence and the structure was not impacted. The house was occupied but the residents were not injured and evacuated safely."

The aircraft was a Mooney M20E, a fixed-wing single-engine plane originally manufactured in 1964, according to FAA Aircraft Registration.
