Parades and Services Planned for Remembrance Day

Communities in Hamilton, Burlington, and Brantford are preparing ceremonies to commemorate Remembrance Day and honor those who have served. Many federal services and regulated businesses, including banks and postal offices, will be closed on November 11.

Indigenous Veterans’ Day Event

An event marking Indigenous Veterans’ Day will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 7, at the Battlefield House Museum and Park, 77 King St. E., in Hamilton.

“This service acknowledges and commemorates the contributions made by Indigenous veterans in service to Turtle Island,” the City of Hamilton said in a news release.

The ceremony, held at the Eagles Among Us Indigenous Monument, will be followed by light refreshments with traditional Indigenous flavors. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own chairs, as seating is limited.

Hamilton Garrison Parade

Hamilton’s annual garrison parade will begin at 10:15 a.m. on November 9, followed by a service at 10:45 a.m. The parade, featuring veterans, garrison units, and cadet corps, will start at the John Foote V.C. Armoury and proceed south to Gore Park on King Street East, where the service will take place at Veteran’s Place.

Additional City Ceremonies

Burlington and Brantford will also host their own services on or around November 11 to honor military personnel and pay respect to their sacrifices.
