After the Toronto Blue Jays' tough World Series loss in seven games to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team faces an important offseason filled with major decisions.
One key move already completed was pitcher Shane Bieber choosing to exercise his $16 million option for next season, keeping him in Toronto. Bieber, acquired from the Cleveland Guardians before the trade deadline, surprised many with this choice but gave the Blue Jays a reliable ace for the 2026 rotation.
The club still has crucial calls to make on its star players, most notably shortstop Bo Bichette. He suffered an injury in early September and, though not fully recovered, fought through it during the World Series.
“I want to stay with Toronto,”
Bichette said after the series, making his intentions clear about remaining with the team.
According to Mike Axisa of CBS Sports, Bichette could sign an eight-year, $250 million contract to stay in Toronto. Axisa also suggested Bichette might switch positions next season, which could mark a significant change for both him and the Blue Jays.
Bo Bichette aims to remain with the Blue Jays, and reports suggest his new long-term deal could include a shift to a new position for the upcoming season.
