Free Transit for Veterans on Remembrance Day
TransLink will honor veterans and active military personnel this Remembrance Day by offering free transit on Tuesday, November 11. This initiative recognizes their service and sacrifice.
Eligible Individuals
Free transit applies to:
- Veterans
- Active members of the Canadian Armed Forces
- Police and fire personnel
- Canadian Coast Guard members
- Officers from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
- BC Ambulance Service personnel
These individuals can show their badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or wear their uniform to access the free transit service.
Transit Access Details
- Veterans and eligible customers do not need to tap their Compass Card on buses and HandyDART trips.
- Accessible fare gates at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations will stay open from 8 a.m. on November 11.
- Holiday fares will apply to all other transit customers.
Additional Observances
TransLink also acknowledges National Indigenous Veterans Day on Saturday, November 8, honoring Indigenous veterans for their sacrifices and role in global peace and security.
The Royal Canadian Legion will distribute poppies by donation at transit hubs across Metro Vancouver.
Customers are encouraged to use transit to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies throughout the region.
