A stunning display of remembrance and community spirit will take place at St Editha’s Church this Remembrance Sunday. This remarkable project was led by Maureen, a 76-year-old tenant of Tamworth’s Annandale sheltered housing scheme.
With support from her daughter and granddaughter, Maureen crafted an exquisite poppy-themed art installation. The display will be proudly showcased at the church entrance, where Maureen will also accompany the Mayor of Tamworth during the Remembrance Sunday commemorations.
Maureen created the poppy installation in the Annandale communal lounge, transforming the space into a vibrant creative hub with help from her family and the Scheme Manager of Tamworth Borough Council. The installation features a stunning collection of handcrafted poppies, each symbolizing the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who have served.
The project holds special significance, reflecting Maureen’s own time in service, adding a deeply personal and meaningful touch to the tribute.
“It is an absolute honour to see this beautiful tribute come to life in Tamworth. Maureen’s dedication to remembering those who served, alongside her family’s involvement, is truly inspiring.”
