First and Last Bakery, LLC of Hartford, CT, is recalling specific tomato sauce products following a possible health risk identified by the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection.

The products were distributed in Connecticut and Massachusetts through Big Y and potentially other retailers from September 22, 2025, through October 28, 2025. Sales and production have been suspended to ensure regulatory compliance. No illnesses have been reported so far.

The recalled sauces are sold in 26 FL OZ jars, each labeled with the product name and UPC number.
Reason for Recall
The sauces were manufactured without an approved scheduled process or thorough evaluation to confirm processing adequacy. Improper processing of acidified or low-acid canned foods can lead to Clostridium botulinum toxin formation.
Botulism, a potentially fatal food poisoning, can cause symptoms such as general weakness, dizziness, double vision, and difficulty speaking or swallowing. Other common symptoms include breathing difficulties, muscle weakness, abdominal distension, and constipation.
