The holiday-themed Bearista Cold Cup, a 20-ounce tumbler shaped like a bear, sold out almost immediately after its release on November 6. Starbucks launched this festive cup early in the morning as part of its latest holiday merchandise drop, generating significant excitement among fans.
The cup is clear and features a lid with an attached straw. When the straw is inserted, it resembles a green beanie—Starbucks' signature color—perched atop the bear’s head.
Starbucks first teased the Bearista cup on Instagram on November 5, which sparked a strong reaction from eager customers. However, many reported that the cups had already sold out by the time they visited stores. Some customers claimed that certain Starbucks locations received only a very limited stock, sometimes just one or two cups per store.
“Not cool marketing Starbucks to only have 1-2 at each store and allow your baristas to buy them before customers. You should have had additional stock for your baristas and at least 10-20 for each store.”
“Our local store received ONE.”
“Why are you even marketing this?”
Several customers expressed frustration that employees at some locations were securing the Bearista Cold Cups before they were available to the public, contributing to the scarcity experienced by shoppers.
Starbucks' new Bearista Cold Cup quickly sold out due to limited stock and employee purchases, prompting widespread customer disappointment and calls for better distribution planning.
