'The Voice' Recap: The Knockouts Continue & First-Ever Mic Drop Is Used

The Voice Recap: Knockouts and Historic Mic Drop Moment

Michael Bublé introduced the first-ever Mic Drop as the coaches continued narrowing down their teams. The Season 28 Knockout Rounds aired Monday, November 3, featuring intense head-to-head battles. Coaches Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Bublé had to eliminate one team member after each performance. With no Saves or Steals available, every decision was final.

Each coach had one Mic Drop to use, which granted the chosen artist the chance to perform at the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day. Fans will vote on their favorite once all four artists are selected.

Team Snoop’s Knockout Performances

Team Snoop’s Toni Lorene and Natalia Albertini, whom he saved in the Battle Rounds, competed first. Natalia performed “I Wish” by Stevie Wonder, while Toni sang “Lady Marmalade.”

“Natalia, your performance was spectacular, you’re gorgeous, I love your outfit,” said Reba McEntire. “I guess if I had to pick one, I think I’d go with Natalia.”

Niall Horan complimented Toni as a “machine” and praised her vocal abilities: “The stuff you can do with your voice … there’s something special about you.” Both Horan and Bublé said they’d “lean towards” choosing Toni.

Snoop Dogg expressed pride: “I am a proud uncle.”

Upcoming Stages

The competition heads into the Playoffs with the remaining team members, as fans anticipate which artists will advance and earn a spot at the Rose Parade through the Mic Drop votes.

Summary: The Voice Season 28’s Knockout Round delivered dramatic cuts and introduced the novel Mic Drop, adding new stakes as coaches finalize teams for the Playoffs.
