A Los Angeles Gold’s Gym banned a well-known singer-songwriter after a heated argument with a trans woman over locker room access. The dispute prompted the gym to terminate both members' access.
Tish Hyman, 42, a singer-songwriter from the Bronx, claimed her membership was canceled after she recorded a confrontation with a trans woman whom she had previously complained about using the women’s locker room.
“Now he knows how to be a man, right? Stay outta the women’s locker room! We don’t want it. He needs to have his gym membership revoked for that s**t!” – Tish Hyman
The trans woman, identified by TMZ as Alexis Black, is currently transitioning and taking hormones. Although she maintains male genitalia, Black says there was never full exposure to Hyman and does not see an issue with using the women’s locker room.
Hyman said she and other women had repeatedly lodged complaints to the gym about the member’s presence in the women’s changing area.
“You can’t get rid of me for this! I’m a woman and I have every right not to want a man in the rest room when I’m naked! There are girls naked in there!” – Tish Hyman
After a publicized clash over gender and locker room rights, a Los Angeles gym revoked the memberships of both involved parties amid escalating tensions.
