Singer Tish Hyman reported that her Gold's Gym membership was canceled after she raised concerns about a transgender woman in the women's locker room in Los Angeles.
Hyman described her experience on social media as the “worst experience” at the Beverly Center Gold's Gym, which was recently acquired by EoS Fitness. Following her complaint, the gym has received over two dozen one-star reviews on Google within 24 hours, many referencing the locker room issue specifically.
Newsweek reached out to the Beverly Center Gold's Gym branch using the contact form on their website, but no official statement was provided.
The incident occurs amid ongoing national debates about transgender rights and women's privacy in public spaces in the United States. Since January, President Donald Trump has implemented several executive orders aimed at limiting transgender participation in certain areas, including one titled “Keeping Men Out of Women's Sports,” threatening to withdraw funding from educational programs supporting transgender athletes.
“Today I was naked in the locker room. I turned around, and there was a man there.”
This episode at Gold’s Gym reflects the wider, deeply divisive conversation on transgender rights and accommodations in women-only spaces, highlighting ongoing tensions in society.
