Aryna Sabalenka and fifth seed Jessica Pegula have secured their spots in the semi-finals of the 2025 WTA Finals held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Both players advanced from the Stefanie Graf Group, surpassing the reigning champion Coco Gauff and Olympic doubles gold medalist Jasmine Paolini after an intense day of competition on 6 November.
The semi-finals are scheduled for 7 November at the King Saud University Indoor Arena.
“I was just trying to stay aggressive, find my rhythm and find my game,” Sabalenka said after her victory. “I was working for the second set already, but then magically was able to turn things around. [I’m] super happy with the performance, super happy to get this win in straight sets and just happy to be through the round robin.”
“I finally got a straight sets win for the first time in a few months,” Pegula stated after her 63-minute match against Paolini. “That always feels really good, but I thought I served really well and just played solid today. I was aggressive when I needed to be. There wasn’t much negative today.”
