The Broncos’ defense began the night below their own expectations. On the Raiders’ second drive, quarterback Geno Smith found tight windows in Denver’s coverage, and rookie Ashton Jeanty finished the play with a determined run to the end zone. It marked the first red-zone touchdown allowed at Empower Field since Week 8. The Broncos, wearing their classic orange, returned to the sideline frustrated.
At halftime, with the score tied 7-7, safety Talanoa Hufanga gathered the team to refocus their mindset and reinforce accountability on the defensive side.
“We gotta be better,” Hufanga said. “It’s set every week — they can’t score at all. It’s tough for us to even give them a touchdown. We want to hold teams to field goals, or get off the field if we can’t get turnovers.”
After that speech, the defense locked in. They didn’t allow the Raiders another point for the rest of the game and finished with six sacks. The 10-7 victory followed a familiar formula where Vance Joseph’s defensive unit carried the load and preserved the win through relentless pressure and disciplined execution.
Denver’s defense reclaimed control after an early setback, shutting down the Raiders completely in the second half to prove their dominant form still stands strong.
