The Minnesota Zoo’s Treetop Trail earned one of ten 2025 Minnesota Honor Awards from the American Institute of Architects-Minnesota (AIA Minnesota). The recognition celebrates its innovative design and contribution to the state’s architectural landscape.
Located in Apple Valley and operated by the state of Minnesota, the Treetop Trail offers visitors elevated pathways to explore the zoo from new perspectives, with restful spots to enjoy scenic views along the route.

Submissions for these awards are reviewed under the AIA Framework for Design Excellence, which includes ten key measures that reflect a comprehensive approach to high-quality design.
