WESTVILLE – The Westville Town Council is considering a new bylaw aimed at addressing the local deer population. On October 27, the council shared the results of a community survey showing strong support for action on this issue.

Survey Results on Deer Concerns

The survey, which gathered 316 responses, revealed that 80 percent of participants view deer as a problem that needs to be addressed. Furthermore, 79 percent of respondents favored establishing a bylaw to manage the situation. However, only 60 percent agreed with allocating funds for this effort.

Next Steps for the Bylaw

In response, the council has tasked town staff with drafting a bylaw that would ban the feeding of deer. The first reading of this proposed regulation is expected at the council meeting scheduled for November.
