EDF Power Solutions and SPIC Huanghe Hydropower Development, together with Saudi Aramco Power Company (a subsidiary of Aramco), have successfully reached financial close on two major solar energy projects in Saudi Arabia.
Project Overview
The financing will drive the construction of the Al Masa’a and Al Henakiyah-2 solar plants, contributing a combined 1,400 MW of renewable energy capacity to the national grid.
Al Masa’a Project
- Capacity: 1,000 MW
- Location: Hail Province, approximately 590 km north of Riyadh
- Expected commercial operation: Q3 2027
Al Henakiyah-2 Project
- Capacity: 400 MW
- Location: Madinah Province, about 720 km west of Riyadh
- Expected commercial operation: Q1 2027
Agreements and Development
Both solar developments will operate under 25-year power purchase agreements with the Saudi Power Procurement Company, ensuring long-term energy supply and financial stability.
