Ken Jennings, the popular “Jeopardy!” host and former University of Washington (UW) student, recently engaged a large audience while promoting his latest book of puzzles. “Jeopardy!” remains one of the most-watched TV shows, attracting over 5 million viewers each night, largely due to Jennings’ charm, intelligence, and strong Pacific Northwest roots.
Born in Edmonds, Washington, Jennings spent part of his childhood in South Korea and Singapore. Before his game show fame, he worked as a computer programmer. Over 20 years ago, he tried out for “Jeopardy!” and quickly became a standout contestant.

Jennings’ success as a contestant, combined with his approachable personality, increased the show’s popularity. Following the passing of longtime host Alex Trebek in 2020, Jennings was appointed the new host.
Jennings is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He started his higher education at UW before serving a mission in Spain and later completing his degree at Brigham Young University (BYU). Alongside his career in computer science, Jennings pursued authorship.
His newest book, The Complete Kennections: 5,000 Questions in 1,000 Puzzles, marks his first new trivia publication in over ten years. He promoted and signed copies of the book in August at Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park.
