Filipina idol Sophia Laforteza expressed her disbelief and excitement after learning that Katseye, HYBE’s global girl group, received Grammy nominations.
“Oh my goodness,” Sophia wrote on Instagram Stories. “I can’t believe this,” she added, followed by another message: “I’m dreaming.”
The group earned a nomination for Best New Artist, sharing the category with Olivia Dean, The Marias, Addison Rae, Sombr, Leon Thomas, Alex Warren, and Lola Young. Their song “Gabriela” received a nod for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Katseye debuted in 2023 and visited Manila in 2024 for a fan showcase, media appearances, and collaborations. In June, the group dropped “Gabriela,” a Latin-inspired R&B-pop song accompanied by a telenovela-style video featuring Hollywood actress Jessica Alba.
The group’s other popular tracks include “Gnarly,” “Gameboy,” “Touch,” and “Debut.”
Sophia Laforteza’s ecstatic reaction mirrors the growing excitement around Katseye, whose breakthrough with “Gabriela” and Grammy nods mark a major milestone in their rising global career.
