The global girl group KATSEYE, whose popularity soared this year, earned nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the Grammys. This marks the group’s first time being recognized by the Recording Academy.
“We grew up watching and dreaming about moments like this, and seeing it become real feels surreal.”
“We’re so thankful to the Recording Academy for this recognition and to all the incredible artists nominated alongside us. We can’t believe this; it’s so inspiring to be in such amazing company. Most of all, thank you to our fans, our Eyekons, for supporting us every step of the way.”
KATSEYE joins a talented field of nominees including Olivia Dean, The Marías, Addison Rae, Sombr, Leon Thomas, Alex Warren, and Lola Young for the Best New Artist award. Last year’s winner, Chappell Roan, announced the category during the Grammy nomination livestream on Friday.
The past year has been transformative for KATSEYE. They first gained attention through the Netflix documentary Popstar Academy, which followed their evolution from aspiring performers to internationally recognized artists.
The group was originally formed on the YouTube competition series Dream Academy, a joint project between K-pop powerhouse Hybe and Geffen Records, aimed at creating the first truly global girl group.
KATSEYE celebrates their first Grammy nominations, reflecting on their journey from reality show contestants to global pop icons recognized by the Recording Academy.
