Paramore’s lead singer Hayley Williams unveiled the 20th and final track from her third solo album Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. The new single, titled “Showbiz,” features enigmatic lyrics interpreting life under the spotlight.
On November 7th, Williams officially released “Showbiz,” completing the album’s unique rollout. Previously, 17 tracks had been distributed as singles on a free website, followed by a gradual unveiling of the full project. With this release, the album now stands complete.
Many fans speculated that the album signaled Paramore’s breakup. Williams, however, reassured supporters that the band is just “on a break.” In the song “Good Ol’ Days,” the 19th released track, she refers to herself as “Miss Paramore,” hinting the band she started at age 15 still has a future.
“May never happen again / Stings like sweat on broken skin / And it’s never enough / Tastes like the whole ocean / Exit stage left / What might be the end / Showbiz, showbiz.”
Williams’ lyrics in "Showbiz" remain open to interpretation, as it’s unclear what exactly may be ending.
Recently, Williams admitted feeling she had been “blamed for all the shit” surrounding the band's periods of hiatus. The new songs also reveal emotional reflections on her relationship with Paramore’s guitarist, which has ended.
Author's summary: Hayley Williams concludes her solo album with "Showbiz," exploring fame's pressures while reaffirming Paramore’s ongoing pause, not a permanent breakup.
