Willa Pearson, at 14 years and 312 days, made her debut for Sydney FC in the Ninja A-League during Round 1 of the 2025-26 season, setting a new record as the youngest-ever player in the league’s history.
Historic Debut Against Melbourne City
Pearson was selected to start in Sydney’s opening game against reigning Premiers Melbourne City, positioned in defense. Her first challenge was marking CommBank Matildas star Holly McNamara.
Record-Breaking Appearance
She broke the previous youngest player record by 35 days, which was held by Ischia Brooking from Western Sydney Wanderers in 2023 (14 years, 347 days).
