Grimes, the musician and former partner of Elon Musk, expressed her worries about artificial intelligence and its impact on children in a brief but sharp statement. Known officially as Claire Elise Boucher, she highlighted what she sees as a major danger related to outsourcing thinking to AI technology.
Grimes has voiced her opinion that:
“the biggest imminent threat is just outsourcing thinking.”
She indirectly criticized AI integration on social platforms, referencing Musk’s embedding of various AI forms in the social media site X. Musk announced Grok 3, described as “the smartest AI on Earth,” during a February presentation on X.
Discussing potential harm, Grimes told Doomscroll’s Joshua Citarella:
“I'm tired of experimenting on kids you know, smoking, MacDonalds and now we're gonna do it with this?”
She believes AI could adversely affect children, even suggesting it might lead to fatal consequences, while also acknowledging the complexity of anticipating the next AI developments:
“In some ways I can't wait for superintelligence - in some ways I can't wait. It's not as easy since I've had kids.”
This openness to younger users further fuels Grimes’ concerns about safeguarding children from possible negative effects.
Grimes warns of AI’s potential risks to children, criticizing the unchecked integration of AI on Musk’s platform and expressing mixed feelings about future superintelligence in light of motherhood.
