Mike Smith, 53, known for his role as “Bubbles” in the Canadian cult-classic mockumentary Trailer Park Boys, has been charged with sexual assault. The alleged incident occurred in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, dating back to December 2017.
Smith faced charges in Nova Scotia Provincial Court in October. According to Trailer Park Boys Inc.,
“We are aware of the allegation concerning Mike Smith dating back to 2017 and take such matters seriously.”
The company also stated,
“We recognize how difficult an allegation of this nature is for all involved. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not comment further on the case.”
Details of the alleged assault were not included in the court documents. Smith has been ordered to avoid contact with the alleged victim and not to visit their home, workplace, or school.
Following the charges, Smith stepped down from his position as managing director at Trailer Park Boys Inc. He has been part of the main cast alongside Robb Wells and John Paul Tremblay since the show began, and in 2013, he acquired the franchise rights.
Filming for the 13th season concluded in August, with the season planned to air in 2026, coinciding with the show’s 25th anniversary.
