Northern Ireland-based gas network operator Kinecx Energy, formerly Firmus Energy Network, is shifting its focus to biomethane integration and displacing natural gas after a rebranding.
The company, which operates from Antrim with a team of about 65, has invested around £250m in its gas network, spanning an area covering 200,000 homes and businesses across Northern Ireland.
In May, Kinecx Energy signed a connection agreement with Greenan Generation for a plant in Eglinton, which will supply around 8% of network demand in the northwest.
Across Northern Ireland, the potential for biomethane production is estimated at 3.5TWh.
