The BBC is under heavy criticism following revelations that it edited footage of former US President Donald Trump’s speech in a Panorama documentary.
David Elstein, a former BBC Executive Producer, described the editing as a symptom of a "very worrying" cultural problem within the broadcaster. Speaking to GB News, he emphasized that the editorial decisions "need more scrutiny."
The Panorama programme showed Trump saying:
"We're gonna walk down to the Capitol and I'll be there with you and we fight. We fight like hell and if you don't fight like hell you're not gonna have a country any more."
However, the original speech directed the crowd to march to the Capitol building "peacefully and patriotically make their voices heard."
The controversy raises questions about media integrity and the impact of editorial choices on public perception.
