“At this time I have to prioritize my health”: Bad Company’s Paul Rodgers drops out of this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony – after previously confirming reunion plans

Paul Rodgers Withdraws From Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Due to Health Concerns

Bad Company’s frontman Paul Rodgers has announced that he will not attend this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony because of health reasons. The singer had previously planned to reunite on stage with drummer Simon Kirke for the first time since 2019.

“My hope was to be at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and to perform for the fans, but at this time I have to prioritize my health,” Rodgers stated on the band’s official Instagram account.

He added that his health was the priority and clarified that singing itself was not an issue, but the overall stress surrounding the event was. Rodgers assured fans that Simon Kirke and other talented musicians would perform in his place.

“I have no problem singing, it’s the stress of everything else. Simon along with some outstanding musicians will be stepping in for me – guaranteed to rock.”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony is scheduled for this weekend at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Other inductees include Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, OutKast, Soundgarden, the White Stripes, Salt-N-Pepa, Warren Zevon, Thom Bell, Nicky Hopkins, Carol Kaye, and Lenny Waronker.

Kirke, the only other surviving original member of Bad Company, had previously confirmed their planned reunion, which would have been their first joint performance in six years. However, those plans were canceled following Rodgers’ health announcement.

“I’m not at liberty to say which songs. I mean, quite honestly, I don’t give a shit,” Kirke told Gold Derby earlier when discussing the planned setlist.
