Rick Stein, renowned for his TV cooking and travel shows, has expressed feeling "sad" following the sudden closure of one of his restaurants and ongoing financial concerns.
Stein began his journey in the Cornish town of Padstow after graduating from New College, Oxford, and growing up near Chipping Norton. Over the years, his business has expanded significantly, with four venues in Cornwall, a restaurant on the upscale Sandbanks area in Dorset, and other establishments throughout southern England.
Last month, Stein's restaurant in Marlborough unexpectedly shut down. His companies have faced financial setbacks, with Seafood Trading Ltd reporting a pre-tax loss of £1,146,000 in 2024, following a £892,000 loss the previous year. Additionally, accounts for Stein's Trading Ltd showed a pre-tax loss of £290,000.
"I am sad the county's restaurant closed on October 5," Stein told the Wiltshire Gazette.
