Rick Stein, the beloved UK chef and TV personality, has been a staple on Australia's east coast dining scene for over 15 years, often visiting and considered almost an unofficial Aussie. Now, he is preparing to bring his renowned seafood cuisine to Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs with a new restaurant.
Despite no indication of expanding further in Australia for several years, earlier this year Stein announced a new 224-seat restaurant, Rick Stein at Coogee Beach, located in the InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach.
“The truth of it is that the two Bannisters hotels and my restaurants were taken over by [investment management group] Salter Brothers in October last year,” Stein shares. “And that was a bit of a surprise. But actually starting to work with Salter Brothers, I realised how professional they were and how much I liked working with them."
Unlike some celebrity chefs who polarise or only attract certain audiences, Rick Stein has universal appeal and remains a well-loved figure. His brand of simple yet spectacular seafood continues to resonate across different demographics.
Author's summary: Rick Stein is expanding his culinary presence in Sydney with a new Coogee Beach restaurant, marking a new chapter after partnering with Salter Brothers, who recently acquired his Australian ventures.
