J.J. Watt plays football with 3-year-old son on same field he dominated with Texans: ‘Just unbelievable’

J.J. Watt Shares Special Football Moment with Son on Former Texans Field

J.J. Watt returned to Houston for a sentimental homecoming before calling Sunday’s game between his former team, the Texans, and the Jaguars. The 36-year-old CBS Sports announcer shared a heartfelt moment with his 3-year-old son, Koa, on the same NRG Stadium field where he spent a decade of his NFL career.

“It was the best,” Watt said. “This was such a cool morning for me to have my wife, Kealia, and my son, Koa, out on the field. Obviously, so many memories in this building, so many great throwbacks, and to see him run into that end zone, the same one I’ve run into before, just unbelievable feeling this morning.”

Watt was drafted 11th overall by the Texans in the 2011 NFL Draft after playing at Wisconsin. During his ten seasons in Houston, he became a defensive powerhouse, earning Defensive Player of the Year honors three times and five First-team All-Pro selections.

Following the 2020 season, Watt requested his release from the Texans and signed a two-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals. His career faced challenges afterward, including a shoulder injury in 2021 and a heart issue in 2022 when he revealed he had atrial fibrillation and needed his heart “shocked back into rhythm.”
