M&S says expanded Zalando deal can cut Europe delivery times by three days

M&S has shared more details about its newly expanded logistics partnership with Zalando, revealed in Zalando’s Q3 results last Thursday. The collaboration is expected to shorten delivery times across Europe by up to three days.

Expansion of the partnership

Since 2022, M&S has maintained a limited relationship with Zalando, fulfilling orders through three European marketplaces: Zalando, About You, and Amazon. Starting early next year, Zalando’s B2B logistics solution ZEOS will handle M&S’s entire online direct-to-consumer operations in continental Europe.

Strategic growth and logistics

Zalando already provides similar logistics services for another UK retailer, Next, indicating growing confidence among UK brands in Zalando’s European infrastructure. M&S highlighted that its online sales via Zalando jumped 131% in the last quarter compared to the previous year.

Operational advantages

M&S will be able to take advantage of ZEOS’s inventory efficiency, “creating one single stock pool as well as an advanced order management system for Fashion, Home & Beauty products”.

The new setup will extend across 21 European markets, optimizing distribution and unifying stock management for greater speed and efficiency.

Author’s Summary

M&S deepens its logistics partnership with Zalando, betting on faster, more efficient pan-European delivery through the ZEOS system covering 21 markets.
