Anduril Industries, a US-based defense technology company, has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Sydney, Australia. This 7,400 square meter site is designed specifically to produce the Ghost Shark, an extra-large autonomous underwater vehicle (XL-AUV), and will create over 150 high-skilled jobs.
The factory opening comes after the Royal Australian Navy awarded Anduril a $1.12 billion (A$1.7 billion) contract for a large fleet of Ghost Sharks, to be delivered within the next five years. Production has started with a low-rate initial phase and will ramp up to full-scale manufacturing in 2026.
The facility integrates advanced robotic manufacturing, AI-driven logistics, and a dedicated test tank. This test tank enables in-water verification of buoyancy, electrical systems, and safety before sea trials.
“Don’t let policy changes catch you off guard.”
