The Northern Lights put on an impressive display in the Netherlands last night, with many sharing photos of green and red ribbons across the night sky. They are expected to be visible again tonight, weather permitting.
According to Weeronline, the best chance for clear skies is in the east and southeast of the country. Some clouds are expected to move in, but there will also be clear periods allowing for visibility of the lights.
The Northern Lights occur due to solar flares, many of which have recently been directed toward Earth. This activity caused a heavy geomagnetic storm (G4/KP8), which painted the sky red during last night’s display.

The Northern Lights have recently dazzled observers in the Netherlands due to solar activity, and tonight offers another chance to witness this natural spectacle, especially in the east and southeast if clouds stay away.
