Sustainability Win for Dandenong Council

Greater Dandenong City Council has been honoured for its exceptional dedication to sustainability by winning the 2025 Cities Litter Award at the 43rd Annual Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria Tidy Towns and Cities Sustainability Awards.

The awards recognize environmental accomplishments and a strong community spirit throughout Victoria. They highlight projects that empower individuals, influence behaviour change, protect natural resources, reduce waste, engage youth and Indigenous communities, and build resilience.

Award-Winning Campaign

The Council’s Waste Services Team earned the award for their “Bin It or Take It Home With You” campaign, which educates residents about responsible litter disposal and raises awareness about its environmental damage.

“This award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our Waste Services Team, not just for this project, but for the work they do every day,” said Sanjay Manivasagasivam, City Futures Executive Director. “We’re proud to lead initiatives that make our city cleaner.”

The Council emphasizes that this recognition reflects their ongoing collaboration with the community to create a cleaner, greener Greater Dandenong for the future.
