The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain in Edinburgh on Thursday morning, with motorists warned of flooding on roads and ScotRail services delayed or revised. Heavy rain was expected to move across Edinburgh and surrounding areas, including East Lothian, West Lothian, and Midlothian. Rainfall of up to 50mm could be seen in some areas.
Issued from midnight until 11am on November 13, the warning covers the south east of Scotland and the north of England. Forecasters warned of potential disruption as rain moves through the region.
“Poor weather may affect some ScotRail services until 9.30am on Friday, November 14. Blanket emergency speed restrictions are being imposed due to heavy rain on the following routes – Glasgow Central and Edinburgh, Glasgow Central and Dumfries, Glasgow Central and Carlisle.”
Trains on affected routes may be delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised.
