On Saturday, 22 November 2025, the JPF grounds in Plantersrust, Willemstad, will turn into a festive hub of flavor, music, and culture during the event Taste of Suriname Curaçao – 50 Years Srefidensi. Organized by Surinam Airways together with the JPF Association, the celebration commemorates fifty years of Surinamese independence and symbolizes the strong cultural ties between Suriname and Curaçao.
The event will bring together Surinamese companies traveling to Curaçao especially for this occasion, alongside local businesses with close links to the Surinamese community. Their collective participation highlights the growing harmony and mutual appreciation between the two Caribbean nations.
The venue at Weg Naar Welgelegen #3 will be transformed into a colorful environment filled with cultural expressions reflecting Suriname’s diverse roots — Hindustani, Javanese, Creole, Chinese, and Indigenous influences. The design and decorations will capture the spirit of Suriname’s lively identity.
Guests will have the opportunity to savor authentic Surinamese cuisine. Local food vendors and visiting producers will serve beloved dishes such as pom and roti, paired with traditional beverages that evoke the true taste of Srefidensi.
The atmosphere will be enriched by live performances from the local band MOXI, blending Surinamese and Curaçaoan rhythms. A DJ set and a variety of cultural dance acts will complete the program, recreating the joyful energy of celebrations in Suriname itself.
