Thirteen men, including two foreign nationals, were arrested in Bukit Mertajam during a police operation targeting alleged unnatural sexual activities. The raid took place in a commercial building suspected of operating an illicit sauna facility.
According to Central Seberang Perai district police chief ACP Tan Cheng San, the operation was carried out after receiving public complaints about suspicious activities at the premises. Police discovered several men inside sauna rooms, along with electronic devices allegedly containing explicit video recordings.
“Preliminary investigations suggest the premises were being used for activities violating local moral and public laws,” said ACP Tan.
Authorities also seized mobile phones, cash, and other items believed to be connected to the case.
The investigation is being conducted under Section 377B of the Penal Code, which covers unnatural sexual acts. All 13 suspects were taken into custody for questioning to assist further investigations.
ACP Tan added that the police will continue monitoring similar venues suspected of offering illegal services.
Local residents expressed relief following the raid, saying that authorities acted quickly after their complaints. The police urged the public to continue reporting suspicious behavior to help maintain public order in the area.
“Community cooperation is vital for ensuring safety and upholding social values,” the district police chief emphasized.
