Aldi worker shops toothache-hit drink-driver who used mouthwash with 26% alcohol

Drink-Driver Banned from Roads for 19 Months

A 53-year-old man, Grant Considine, has been banned from driving for 19 months after being caught drink-driving.

Considine was stopped by police after a staff member at Aldi reported a customer who smelled of alcohol driving away.

He complied with a roadside breath test. He was arrested and taken to custody. The intoxilyzer provided a reading of 73 micrograms of alcohol in 100 milliliters of breath, against the legal limit of 35.

Considine, who has no previous convictions, pleaded guilty to drink-driving. His lawyer, Tony Cooke, explained that Considine had been suffering from a toothache and had used mouthwash with 26% alcohol before driving.
