Cardinale happy as AC Milan owner offered Italian citizenship

AC Milan Owner Gerry Cardinale Offered Italian Citizenship

AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale is 'profoundly honoured' at a proposal to give him Italian citizenship, stating

My commitment to Italy is long-term.

Cardinale, the chief of RedBird, the majority shareholders of the Rossoneri, is set to play a key role in purchasing the land around the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza and building a new San Siro arena alongside Inter.

The proposal for citizenship was made by Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi and Justice Minister Carlo Nordio, citing Cardinale's

initiatives of solidarity and social inclusion via sport, especially for young people who are incarcerated, in fragile conditions, or exposed to the risk of marginalisation.

The council of ministers has approved the proposal, which can now move forward to the next stage.
