Michael Heffner has been announced as the new Fire Chief of Kennewick, WA. Heffner, who has been serving as the Deputy Chief since 2021, will be taking over the position from interim chief.
The search for a new Fire Chief began after Chad Michael's retirement last summer. Heffner's main focus in his new role is to recruit more paramedics in the city.
"I want to focus on the recruitment of qualified paramedics. So in the marketplace, in terms of the job market, it's hard to recruit paramedics here, especially when we compete with other opportunities on the west side of the state, and it's hard work. It's a lot of studying" said Heffner.
Heffner will begin his new position on Thursday, October 16th, leaving his Deputy Chief spot vacant.
