1 injured, several displaced after second fire this year at Knoxville apartment complex, KFD says

A fire broke out at the Spring Meadows Apartments in Knoxville, resulting in one injury and displacing several residents.

According to the Knoxville Fire Department (KFD), the fire occurred on Washington Ridge Way on Monday afternoon. Crews responded to the scene just before 5 p.m. and were able to extinguish the fire shortly after.

One person was injured in the fire and taken to the hospital, with their condition currently unknown. Nine people and several animals were displaced from four units in the building, with the fire-damaged apartment being uninhabitable. The other units sustained varying degrees of smoke and water damage.

The American Red Cross is assisting those impacted by the fire. The KFD's Fire Investigation Unit is working to determine the cause of the fire, which is the second to occur at the complex this year.
