The Pope expressed gratitude for Italy's welcome of pilgrims during the 2025 Holy Year and its "generous assistance" to migrants.

he said, urging the country to remain open to welcoming and integrating migrants.
Pope Leo XIV was escorted by the presidential horse honour guard into the palace courtyard, wearing his formal red cape and brocaded stole.
