Conrad Thompson of AdFreeShows.com recently spoke to former WWE creative team member Andrew Goldstein for The Insiders podcast, revealing how Dusty Rhodes came up with the idea for the MVP gimmick in WWE, inspired by an NFL star.
According to Goldstein, a former NFL star helped Dusty Rhodes create the MVP character, which featured a full body suit and sports-styled presentation. Goldstein stated:

MVP was in developmental at the time, doing some version of what he became, but it was very rudimentary. Goldstein, a big Eagles fan, noted that it was the time when the Eagles had Terrell Owens, which likely influenced the creation of the MVP gimmick.
