A jury at Newcastle Crown Court has found Cavan Beggs-Reid, a 64-year-old man from Great Ouseburn, to have committed acts of stalking and burglary.
According to the Crown Prosecution Service indictment, Beggs-Reid entered a property in Great Ouseburn on April 2, 2023, as a trespasser and stole CCTV camera equipment. Additionally, he stalked a man between February 20, 2024, and April 27, 2024, by following, watching, and repeatedly confronting and filming him, as well as sending him repeated notices and correspondence.
The defendant’s behaviour had a “substantial adverse effect” on the victim’s day-to-day life.
The verdict was delivered on October 2, with the jury concluding that Beggs-Reid committed the acts of which he was accused, although he was deemed unfit to plead to the offences.
