Arizona Attorney General Threatens to Sue House Speaker
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has given Speaker Mike Johnson a 2-day ultimatum to schedule Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva's swearing-in ceremony, threatening to sue if it's not done by Thursday.
Rep.-elect Grijalva has yet to be sworn in, three weeks after being elected to represent Arizona's 7th Congressional District in Congress.
In a letter to Johnson's office, Mayes stated that the oath of office ceremony must take place before the end of the federal government shutdown.
Mayes announced that she was sending the letter during the official canvas of the Sept. 23 special election results.
