Chinese tech firm DJI, the US market leader in ag spray drones, is appealing a court ruling that upholds the Department of Defense's characterization of the firm as a "Chinese military company".

The National Defense Authorization Act defines a Chinese military company as one that is directly or indirectly owned, controlled, or otherwise linked to the Chinese Communist Party, contributes to China's "military-civil fusion industrial base", and engages in commercial activities.
Once the DoD determines that an entity meets the definition, it places the company on the 1260H List, a list of companies alleged to be linked to China's military-industrial complex.
